Privacy Policy

SONKA ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Tele-Port Prime Ghana Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information when you use the SONKA mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

• Phone number — used for account registration and login
• Name — displayed on your profile
• Location — used to show nearby drivers on the map (only when app is in use)
• Device token — used to send push notifications
• Booking data — pickup/delivery locations, trip history, agreed prices
• Messages — chat between customers and drivers
• Ratings and reviews — feedback left after completed trips
• MoMo transaction ID — submitted by drivers for subscription verification (not your full financial details)
• When you accepted these terms — the date and the device, kept as proof of agreement. We do not record where you were
• A record of numbers given out — when a customer obtains a driver's number, we record who asked, which driver, and when. See section 6

2. How We Use Your Information

• To connect customers with nearby drivers on the live map
• To facilitate bookings and trip management
• To send push notifications about your bookings and account
• To verify driver subscription payments
• To display driver ratings and trip history to customers
• To operate the affiliate referral program

3. Who Is Responsible For Your Data

Tele-Port Prime Ghana Ltd is the data controller. We decide what information SONKA collects and why, and we remain responsible for it. That responsibility does not pass to anyone else, including the companies listed below.

4. Other Users

Some of your information is shown to other people using SONKA. This is the app working as intended, not a disclosure to an outside company:

• If you drive: your name, photo, vehicle details, plate, ratings, the town you work in and your position on the map are visible to other signed-in users, whether or not you have dealt with them before. Your phone number is covered in section 6.
• If you are a customer: your name and number are shown to a driver once you are on a booking together, or if you call or message them first.

5. Companies That Help Us Run SONKA

We do not sell your personal data to anyone. To operate the app we use the companies below. Most of them are processors: they handle information only on our instructions and for the job named, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

• Supabase — stores the SONKA database: your account, bookings, messages and positions
• Railway — runs the SONKA servers that process your requests
• Cloudinary — stores photos and videos you upload, including profile pictures and pictures of goods
• Expo — delivers push notifications. This includes the text of the notification, such as "Ama just got your number on SONKA"
• Arkesel — sends the SMS codes and reminders to your number

Two of the companies we work with are not our processors. They are responsible for their own handling of your information because the law requires them to keep payment records of their own:

• Paystack — processes card and mobile money payments
• MTN Mobile Money — processes mobile money payments

5a. Where Your Information Is Kept

SONKA's servers and database are outside Ghana. The database is hosted in Ireland and the servers that process your requests are in the United States. Our notification and SMS providers are also outside Ghana.

This is normal for apps of this kind, but you should know it. We use established providers who protect information to recognised standards, and we remain responsible to you for how your information is handled wherever it is held. 6. Drivers' Phone Numbers

SONKA is a marketplace where customers ring drivers directly and agree the job between themselves. If you register as a driver, customers can obtain your mobile number through the app in order to call you. This is how work reaches you, and it is the main thing SONKA does.

We limit it as follows:

• Your number is not shown in search results, on the map, or in any list. A customer must open your profile and ask for it.
• Only signed-in SONKA users can ask, and they must confirm their own number by SMS before we release any driver's number to them.
• Each customer is limited to a set number of drivers per day.
• We keep a record of every time your number is given out — who asked and when. You can see how many people have requested it from your driver dashboard.
• Customers do not receive your number in bulk, and we do not supply driver lists to anyone.

Customers: your number is shown to a driver only once you are on a booking together, or if you choose to call or message them first.

7. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit). Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers with Row-Level Security enabled on every table that holds your information, meaning only authorised users can reach their own data.

8. Location Data

SONKA requests access to your device location to show nearby drivers on the map. For drivers, location is shared while you are marked as online. You can stop sharing location at any time by going offline or closing the app. We do not track your location in the background without your knowledge.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days. Booking records may be retained in anonymised form for service improvement.

10. Your Rights

• Request a copy of your data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data

11. Children's Privacy

SONKA is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via push notification or in-app message.
